Mr. Alvin Fred Davis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Alvin Fred Davis, 58, of Sylvania, GA, passed at the Ogeechee Area Hospice on May 16, 2022. Fred was born in Bulloch County at the Statesboro Hospital in 1963. He was reared in Portal until the age of 12 when the family relocated to Screven County. There he attended high school while he had worked for Mims Brower farming. After high school he began a long career as a automotive mechanic, having been employed with Screven Tire for 18 years, Nevil Tire for 5 years, and lastly with Brower Tire until his health wouldn’t permit. He enjoyed fishing the Savannah River at the Mouth of the Creek and also the Ogeechee River. He was a member of the Buck Creek United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Bonnet Brower. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lindsey Scott Davis; two daughters, Amber Nicole Davis and Emily Brooke Davis, all of Sylvania, sister, Gracie Carter of Portal; niece, Kelly Usry of Glennville, and her children, Summar McDonald and Gunnar McDonald; sister-in-laws, Erin (Oliver) Sanders of Sylvania and Atalie Stewart of Cumming, GA, step-brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Stephanie Beasley, Johnny “Bucky” Whitehead Jr., and Devin (Candace) Whitehead, all of Sylvania; mother-in-law, Julia Newberry (Matt) Stewart of Cumming, and father-in-law, Ricky Scott of Sylvania. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Buck Creek United Methodist Church at 11:00am with Rev. Carrol Gay officiating. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service in the Social Hall. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to Gail Rigdon and her family for taking such special care of Mr. Davis. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the Fred Davis Memorial Fund, payable to Farmers and Merchant Bank.
