Mr. David Lee Dinkins

Brooklet, Georgia David Lee Dinkins, age 58, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at home. David was born in Highpoint, North Carolina and was the son of the late GloriousHope Edge and Billy McArthur Dinkins. He moved to Georgia in 1989 and was a mechanic for Goodyear in Pooler. He was the mechanic for the neighborhood as well as his family and would help anyone who ask, even when he became ill. He taught his daughter his mechanical skills too. Although his friends thought he was all about racing and World War II movies, he was a sucker for romantic comedies. His joy in life was racing and refurbishing cars until the birth of his granddaughter Addelynne Hope who he adored. He would spend hours watching “Tangled” and “Frozen” with her. “PaPaw” was her hero. He was always there to rescue her from the bugs she feared and was her official “Bug Smasher” around the house. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mitchell Dinkins, and a brother and sister, Mackey and Louise Dinkins. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Carol Vogler Dinkins; one daughter, Shelby Lynne’; three sons, Paul Riley, Richard, and Tyler Dinkins; eight granddaughters and four grandsons; one sister, Sherry Dinkins Hartfield; and three brothers, Jimmy, Neal and Jerry Dinkins. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home.
