April 4, 1963 - September 17, 2021
Mr. Gary Edward Brinson, 58 of Sylvania, passed at Memorial Hospital Jacksonville on September 17, 2021. Gary Brinson was first and foremost a faithful child of God and is celebrating with his Jesus right now. He was the son of the late Robert Edward “Zeb” and Thetis Carpenter Brinson. He married his best friend, Nancy Cannon, in 1985 and they had two children Brittney Thompson and Garrett Brinson. Gary gave his life and heart to Jesus on the Emmaus Walk #90 in the spring of 2015 and never looked back. He devoted his entire life following God’s direction. Many thought he was crazy joining the mission field when he was too young to retire but he had faith in God’s calling. He applied his God given talent to repairing homes for disaster victims as a member of NOMADs and Campers on a Mission. Trust me, he got more out of that deal than the people he helped…serving others was his blessing. He was an active member of McBride Church and enjoyed spending time with his church family. He was excited about the changes going on in his little church and was looking forward to the direction God was leading them as they began their new chapter of becoming independent. Donations may be made to McBride Church to fund their new endeavor. His passion was working with wood and dirt, he was a master craftsman and an expert machine operator and loved being in a seat of a tractor. The only thing he loved more was his Lord and Savior and his family. He loved his bride of 35 years and told her so every day. He cherished his baby girl, Brittney, and was in awe of the mother she had become. He also admired her big hearted, hardworking, husband Kelly, his son-in-love. He could not have asked for a better set of parents to raise his precious grandchildren Will and Emilia Thompson, who were his heart. He was so proud of the young man Garrett had become and was amazed at his mechanical talent, independence, and bragged on him quite often. He will be sorely missed by so many family members, friends and fellow missionaries around the country. Because of the joy he knew he would have when he went to heaven, he requested no funeral, but preferred a celebration of life. No “funeral” flowers allowed, just live plants…we are celebrating the life that has no end! He wanted everyone to celebrate the fact, that Jesus, in His death provided salvation for anyone that wants it…. all you have to do is ask… We will gather at the farm, Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at 7:00pm to enjoy an evening of gospel singing, God’s word and a tribute to Gary’s life. This celebration will be in true Gary fashion, everyone bring your own lawn chair or blanket, wear jeans and bright colored (fill the farm with color) comfortable clothes. Boiled peanuts and drinks will be provided. We do hope you will join us in celebrating this tribute to Gary Brinson’s life and the God who provides everlasting life. Surviving is his wife, Nancy Cannon Brinson; children, Brittney Layne Brinson (Kelly) Thompson and Garrett Edward Brinson; grandchildren, Emilia Thompson and William Thompson, mother-in-law, Betty Jean Newton, and brothers-in-law; Chuck Julie) Cannon and David (Kathy) Cannon.
