Mrs. Gwenn Elise Sobo Fontana

December 10, 1955 - March 22, 2022

Gwenn Elise Fontana (age 66) passed away from heart failure on March 22, 2022. She is survived by her husband Peter Richard Fontana, Jr. (age 69), and her two children, Elise Rose Sobo (age 31) and Jessica Lynne Sobo (age 29).) Gwenn was preceded in death by her elderly mother, Virginia Rose Luecke Sobo (1939-2019). Besides her husband and her children, Gwenn is survived by her brother, William Sobo, her sister Julia Theriot, her aunt Joyce Barnes, her cousin Nancy Cacciarelli, her cousin Jim Barnes, and several other cousins, nieces, and nephews. Gwenn was born in St. Louis, Missouri and went to John Burroughs High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt University. In addition, she went to Clayton College and received her Master’s degree and PhD in nutrition. Gwenn was an avid gardener. She loved birds. She enjoyed being outdoors. She loved playing the piano, sewing, and staying educated in all things nutrition. Although Gwenn battled with health issues all of her adult life, that did not stop her from being an amazing wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She was compassionate, caring, strong, and determined. Everything she did, no matter how small, she did with all her heart. She was resilient and persevered despite her sicknesses. She pushed through the pain and wanted to enjoy life to the fullest. She was a woman of very high character with a huge heart. She cared about everyone. She had a desire to serve others and wanted to use her life to the fullest and not waste it. She will forever be in our hearts and minds. Nothing beautiful in this world is ever lost. Those we cherish will always live on in our hearts & memories. Services will be held at a later date.
