Mrs. Helen Adele Horton Cook Brannen

    April 1, 1929 - April 28, 2022

Statesboro, GA Mrs. Helen Adele Horton Cook Brannen, age 93, died on Thursday April 28, 2022 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Statesboro. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Horton and the late Beatrice Leona Anianu Horton. Helen lived in Statesboro and enjoyed reading her Bible and Christian novels, visiting family and friends, and traveling to the mountains with kids in tow and visiting church’s all over. She was lovingly termed the “Road Runner”. Her last job of many jobs was working at L&D Farm Fresh Produce for over 30 years where she loved the interaction with customers and blessing them with free produce. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and a faith full attendee of the Landmark Holiness Church. She will always be remembered as a prayer warrior, who took joy in praying for everyone; she never met a stranger! She loved serving the Lord and taking people to church. Most days you would find her selling her doughnuts to help raise money for her beloved church. Surviving are two sons, Clarence Marvin Cook and his wife Linda of Hampton, SC; and Pastor Lawrence Cook and his wife Dianne of Orangeburg, SC; a daughter, Leona Cook Gerrald and her husband David of Statesboro, GA; nine grandchildren, Jim, Tammy, Tim (Brooke), Renee (Joe), Mike, Marvin, Jr (Rose), Lisa (Frankie), Crissy (Larry), Daniel (Valerie), and two step-grandchildren, Brian and Cynthia (Wade), and numerous great and great great grandchildren also survive with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Clarence Cook and Charles Brannen, and by three brothers, Marvin, Jr, Charles Wesley and James Warren; two sisters Emma Jean and Elise Rose; and her daughter, Helen Frances Cook Risher Ehrhardt; a grandson-in-law Larry Clark. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Pam Carter, Sybil, Ann, Kasey and the staff of Ogeechee Area Hospice. A visitation will be held on Sunday May 1, 2020 at the Spirit of Life Ministries, 230 Chanel Dr. Varnville, SC from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Lawrence Cook officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Hampton SC. Pallbearers will be Jim Wilson, Mike Risher, Tim Jordan, Daniel Cook, Frankie Marsh, Joe Moore, Larry Jarrell and Marvin Cook, Jr. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459 or to Crossroads Community Church FOOD PANTRY, 23923 U.S. Hwy 80, Statesboro, GA 304561. Friends may sign the online register book at www.joineranderson.com.
