Jerry Lewis Thompson 77 of Sylvania passed Wednesday afternoon, January 27, 2021 at his residence under the care of Regency Hospice. Jerry was born in Lillybrook, WV to the late Lewis, Jr. and Freda Louise Archer Thompson. Upon graduation from high school, he attended college, and entered the construction field as a draftsman. After a few years, he obtained the position job superintendent with Great South Construction. There he would manage projects along the entire east coast. After some time he wanted a slower pace and went into business for himself having gone back to his roots of drawing building plans, only this time on a computer. In his spare time he enjoyed all facets of remote control airplanes, from design, fabrication, and flying. He enjoyed flying with his club members and especially took interest in float planes. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their travel trailers and were able to see almost all of the continental states. They also had a passion for vinification and sharing with family and friends. After retirement and as his health began to decline they relocated from Florida to Georgia to be closer to family. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Pamela Elizabeth Head Thompson of Sylvania; daughters and son-in-law, April and Randall Mew of Plant City, FL and Dawn Thompson of Seffner, FL; Sons and daughter-in-law, Andy Mathis of Sylvania and Ben and Stacy Mathis of Newington; grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Kenny, Evan and Bailey, Colson, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Harper, and Miranda; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; David and Tina Head of Murfreesboro, TN and Larkin and Sybil Head of Fulshear, TX; several nieces and nephews. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
