Mrs. Mattie Lou Thompson Williams
November 21, 1932 - March 20, 2022
Mattie Lou Thompson Williams, 89 of Sylvania passed Sunday afternoon at her daughter’s residence. She was a native of Screven County and was a born to George Washington and Pearl Florence Kimbrell Thompson. She was a member of the Hurst Baptist Church and retired from BASF with over 25 years of service in the shipping department. She will be remembered as Mama to all that knew her as she always provided, nursed, cooked, and genuinely took care of business. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter Taylor Williams, and siblings, Grady Thompson, Hazel Thompson, Homer Thompson, and Jimmy Thompson. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Williams Floyd of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Robbie Blackburn, Reva Marie Courson, Brandon Blackburn, William Lee, Walter Lee, Anna Miller, Brittany Floyd and Bobby Williams; 24 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Wayward and JoAnne Thompson. Visitation will be held Saturday from 4:00-8:00pm at the Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel. Services will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 2:00pm in the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler officiating. Interment will follow in the Screven Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Thompson, Jimmy Thompson, Benjie Thompson, Denny Thompson, Ben Thompson, and Austin Thompson.
