Mr. William Andy Heath, 87 of Sylvania, GA passed at his residence on March 8, 2021, surrounded by his loving family under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Andy was born in Wrightsville, GA in 1933 to Yome Lee and Annie Mae Powell Heath. He attended grammar school in Kite, GA and graduated from the Brewton High School of Laurens County, GA. Afterwards, he served in the United States Army and completed basic training at Ft. Gordon, and was then stationed in Austria. He returned home to Dublin, GA and was employed for 15 years at J.P. Stevens & Co., Bibb Manufacturing Company for 6 months, and finally with BASF in Sylvania, and retired as a supervisor. Throughout his career he was a self employed handy man that specialized in carpentry and painting. Never one to remain idle after retirement, he worked for many years with Joiner Anderson Funeral Home Screven Chapel as a funeral attendant and did lawn maintenance for many in the Sylvan Heights community. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Sylvania, as well as a member of the American Legion Post 116. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed preparing the fruit of the harvest for his friends and family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Ennis Heath, parents, and siblings, Yome Lee Heath, Jr., Viola Rogers, Linnie Mae Rauwald, and Shirley Johnson. Survivors include wife, Ginny Evans Ozmore Heath of Sylvania; five daughters and sons-in-law, Anda and Mike Mobley of Anderson, SC, Jeanne and Eli Owens, Debra and Wade Zeagler, Carol Heath, all of Sylvania, and Donna and Glenn Chappelear of Acworth; grandchildren, Jackson and Dana Mobley, Michael Mobley, Andy Owens, Marie and Brian Bolt, Christan and Colin Blatchford, Kara and Stephen Bishop, Hannah and Daniel Weaver, Rachael Chappelear, and Caleb Chappelear; great-grandchildren, Elias Owens, Wray Owens, John Grady Bolt, Chat Bolt, Audrey Kate Bolt, Ty Bishop, Brittan Bishop, Brooke Mobley, Camryn Blatchford, Carson Blatchford, and Ryder Weaver; sisters and brother-in-law, Mattie and Ray Walker of Dublin and Lorene H. Beasley of Lithia Springs, GA; aunt, Lavonne Ennis of Talbotton,GA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Emily McCall of Daphne, AL, Marie Scott of Sylvania, and Ted and Patsy Evans of Hiawassee,GA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Chappelear officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Kent and Rev. Dr. Charlie Cooper. Interment will be in the Screven Memorial Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends following the committal. Pallbearers will be Andy Owens, Jackson Mobley, Michael Mobley, Elias Owens, Caleb Chappelear, Mike Johnson, and Bennie Walker.
